View Full Version : Sneak Peek ( and post Tulum funk...)

Here's a few photos..we had an amazing time. Two weeks was probably the perfect amount of time. Still, the post Tulum funk is inescapable. Waking up this am (at dawn to let the dog out, not because I *had* to see the sunrise like in Tulum..) I started trying to figure out how to get back as soon as possible. Is there some sort of pill I can take for this?
It was great meeting Fran and Gale (Beachraider ! I was there when Janet -giddy told her she had a new name courtesy of Rene. I think she was digging it ! )We made breakfast for Fran and Gale after stumbling upon eachother at Pierre's coffee "counter".
It was kind of stunning how fast things are growing down there. I know alot of people have alluded to this. It seems as though it'll have to reach a saturation point soon. But, it's still amazing. It still feels like home...More tease, my trip report is going to be heavily food-centric. We did some serious exploring in the Pueblo and ate at some little tucked away gems.

Oh, mariposa, it sounds wonderful! Thanks for the tease! I can't wait to see all the pics.
I wish there was a way to make re-entry easier but sadly, I don't think anything helps. Even writing the report.... that just makes me even more sad that I'm not there any more! But sharing it all with us might help a bit.
LOVE that cenote pic!
Sad as you are to be home, we're glad to have you back!

Thanks to you and Todd for the warm welcome into your Casa and the great breakfast! Sweet Pierre...he was genuinely touched that you carried breakfast over to him...lol. What a neat guy! It was like meeting a long time friend when he handed us those china cups of coffee!

Is this the same mariposa that was unsure and nervous before venturing out to paradise just a few weeks back? My...how our butterfly spread her wings and flew!!!! I can't wait to hear of the out-of-the-way finds you sampled!!! :)

OMG, that second picture is one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen!
No wonder you are in a funk. That's the bad thing about vacations. It's really depressing when they're over. The only thing I have found to combat the funk is to schedule another trip PRONTO!

Yeah..trip report coming soon. We're making Empanadas de Queso and Caldo de Pollo tonight to try to channel Tulum a bit. we went to the latin market near our house to get stuff; spoke my usual crappy spanish and did our best to extend the feeling a bit longer. Even though it's about 15 degrees and our cellphones are ringing every 20 minutes with people talking about dumb stuff like work etc..I'll take some photos of our own efforts at street food.
Yeah Gale..I know we thought Pierre was pretty sweet too. He and Todd are cut from the same cloth to some extent (kind of the gentleman hippies..with lots of cool tricks and ways to win the ladies..like the italian sugar..)
I love that Cenote photo too..almost didn't get it! the battery started going! My new leica was a revelation. My photos compared to last time are about 500% better...

I'm very soft. I remember the come down from my first trip knowing I may never get back to Tulum, but I did, and you will, and I will again, and you will again. We all find time and money for things we love. Something tells me there is a special place in our heart for this place.

Hola, Mariposa! Thanks for the teaser pics. I wish I'd hooked up with you guys on at least one of your forays into the pueblo. I'm really ticked at myself for staying on the beach road all week long, but that's part of the problem with only staying for one week. Next time, longer for sure, if only to eat at all the places I want to eat at! :)
