Ginger..if you have time could you check this place out and see if it is still there, and in what condition? I have emailed them several times with answer. I would really appreciate a first hand report!

Ginger,
How are you guys, im new to the site. I just had a question about Coqui Coqui. It is next door to TiTa Tulum and was wondering if you could take a peak at it as well if you were already gonna be there? Any info/photos/thoughts or opinions would be greatly appeciated. We will be travelling to tulum in april and have considered this hotel.

Hi all, Ginger my wife and I are interested also in Tita Tulum as we arrive there on April 18th for 7 nights. We have stayed at Nueva Vida in the past but their prices are to high for this time, Tita is $30 a day less. We have seen Tita Tulum in the past as we walked by on our daily beach walks but have never gone up close, it appeared very nice. There are some good reports on Trip Advisor. We were contemplating Cbanas Tulum but were a little nervous as they seem exceptionally lower than others, we will check it out very close this visit and see about staying there in September.

Tita Tulum looked very nice. I'd say it was a tad bit nicer looking that Tierra Sol. Cabanas Tulum has it's nice qualities as well, but I think the rooms and hotel grounds are not at the same level as these other two. However, at Cabanas Tulum you are guaranteed ocean front with no-one blocking the view out of your windows of the wide open beach and sea. Because they are all out front and close to the beach (on it) you also don't have to worry as much about being too hot, as they all get the nice ocean breeze. I know that some of the other hotels you have to beware of where your cabana is in the late spring/summer months as the heat is more intense and if you are far back from the water and behind other cabanas you won't get a nice breeze and it could make it hard to sleep. I know people who left early to head to Playa because of this reason (too hot).
Cabanas Tulum is also about half the price of the others. And the restaurant - while no Ana y Jose - has pretty good food (the tacos were awesome).

I posted some pics in my trip report on the playa board (click here to go to it (http://www.playa.info/playa-del-carmen-forum/21213-incriminating-photos-stories.html)) but thought I'd also post some in this thread.
Here is Tita Tulum:

BTW, as I said in my trip report, I wasn't able to find access to Coqui Coqui. The sign was there, and a gate, but the gate was closed with a big chain an padlock on it. I couldn't seem to see any other entrance way?? Sorry!
Also, Gale, I couldn't find Le Zebra/Eco Inn. I looked a few times as we drove down the road but didn't spot it. Sorry!

I also took pictures of Tierra del Sol. I thought the cabanas themselves looked nicer at Tita Tulum, but the grounds of Tierra were kind of more quaint...
I loved the pathway leading up through the grounds:

a view down towards the beach:

one of the cabanas had the door ajar, and I snuck over to take a photo of the inside:

Thanks for trying Ginger, I suspect that La Zebra/Eco Inn is no mas.
What a great trip report, I can't wait for your next installment. The pictures tell a wonderful story, thanks so much for posting them..next time, I think it might be Tierras Del Sol for me! Thanks for taking the time to check out these places for all of us! Hope your visit was a good one!

La Zebra is still open; when I was in Tulum last week I picked up a group of women hitchhiking to Zamas and they were all staying there. It's farther south than Ana y Jose, but not as far as Amansala, though I don't suppose that's particularly helpful as there are probably a dozen places in there.
Tita looks cute, thanks for all the pictures, Ginger!
I'll try to get my pictures up tomorrow, now that I've got them all downloaded and named so I can find them.

Thanks very much for the info and the pictures Ginger, we will be in Tulum on the 18th of April, we have one of the upper units at Tita Tulum, they usually have a nice breeze at night. We also plan on stopping at Cabanas Tulum to check it out for our next trip, you can't beat their prices and at the lower costs I can probably get an extra trip in during the year, it it would be nice to go three or four times per year as opposed to two!
