I've tried every phone number I can find to call these guys and emailed several times with no luck. I really want to give these guys my business, but they sure are making it difficult.
Anyone know how get a hold of them other than their yahoo email address, their website, or the phone number listed on their website?

Thats why we didnt stay there this year...its a different vibe ,but i will reccommend the mezzanine . Its new ,everything works and they are a brezze to do business with...cash only....and their friday night party leaves having to only stumble a few steps home.
I was able to get ahold of the vita and had an italian friend with me to translate.

Mezzanine does look cool, but in fact the people of Tulum were completely against this hotel because of the fact that there was to be a swimming pool on the beach. One of the best things about Tulum are its beaches, and developers are itching to stretch tourism south to invade Tulum. In addition, most Tulum property owners are very much an eco-conscious community and how "eco-conscious" is it to install a pool on such a beautiful piece of beachfront property? People that prefer Mezzanine to places like Copal or La Vita e Bella might enjoy Playa del Carmen more than Tulum. I believe that places like Mezzanine should stay North. Afterall, Tulum is the gateway to the Sian Kaan Biosphere, and it doesn't seem right not to have a buffer between modern development and a nature preserve.:)

Who the frack appointed you a spokesperson for the "people of Tulum"?
It may not seem right to you, but I am sure it seems right to a lot of people.
People who like to be told what they might like, might prefer people like you to tell them that. Most of us like to make those decisions for ourselves, thank you very much.
What a load.

Simmer down now. Just throwing my opinion out there. Isn't that what forums are for? We all come from different places and have varying ideas of what "vacation" should be about. I don't claim to be a "spokesperson" for the "people of Tulum", however I did manage to speak with more than one person regarding Mezzanine, and found the controversy to be quite heated. Just sharing what I have learned, and did not mean to offend. Wow only 4 posts into my experience with this site and I am already in the "hot seat".

OK, I am simmered. If I could have edited it, I would have.
My apologies. You are all right in my book. Don't worry about offending, just speak your truth.

CJ, have you been to Mezzanine? Have you seen the offending pool of which you speak? Do you realize it's not on the beach but up on a rocky cliff above the water? Do you realize that Ana y Jose and Suenos de Tulum both also have swimming pools, and Mezzanine's is the smallest of the lot?
Swimming pools do not automatically equal AI-type super-development. They may not be the most eco-friendly things in the world, but the environmental impact can be ameliorated by careful maintenance and limited use of chemicals. It is possible, and I'm sure the places that have pools down there do their best to keep them friendly.
Mezzanine is a tiny boutique hotel with only 4 rooms. Tulum is certainly in danger of super-development, in fact there is a big resort going in even as we speak (not at all sure how they're going to handle the lack of electricity and plumbing, but it's going in right at the 'T' of the roads), but I don't think Mezzanine and other small hotels are harming anyone.
You got a mild flaming because the tone of "voice" you used in your original post was remarkably condescending. You weren't just giving your opinion of a place but saying that anyone who likes that place would be better served up in the world of AI development, certainly an unfair statement.
Oh, and I did not stay at Mezzanine, do not work there and probably won't stay there because I prefer to stay places where sand is right outside my door, not rocky cliffs. But I think the people who stay there appreciate cool little boutique hotels, not big AIs.

If anyone needs contact info for La Vita e Bella, pm me. I got the info for Uno Mas last week.
Have you been successful with it, Uno?

The phone number is good, the email is not. The phone is real hit or miss. Sometimes they have a answering machine on and other no one seems to speak English. Either we keep getting disconnected or they hang up. Thye do keep repreating "use the website for reservations", we'll most of us know they aren't responding to the website. I have a lady at work who speaks both Spanish and Italian, so if I can ever get them back on the phone we should get it taken care of.
Thanks again Ginger for taking time out of your vacation to help me out!

Just my opinion.... I went there a few years back. First checked for a vacancy, but none at the time and then just a stop in for a mojito. I myself wouldn't ever want to stay there, but that's just me. They just weren't the friendliest sorts and first impressions are lasting impressions.

If that was a few years back, chances are it could be very different now. Places can change a lot in a few years (in that area especially). In fact, I believe they recently have new owners there. You may want to try visiting again next time you are there. I thought the grounds were beautiful, and the management nice and friendly.

Cjanerun has just informed me that LaVitaBella has got their online reservations up. Goto http://www.lavitaebella-tulum.com/ and click on "Check Availability". They now take credit cards, responded within hours to my request, and I've got my nights confirmed! Maybe things are turning around @ LVB.
Thanks to Cjane!
