Hello, my name is Ruth and I am from Portland, Oregon. I first visited Tulum in 1997. I have returned several times since then and have found it to be a magical healing place. It is getting more and more difficult to find affordable accommodations though. I am in grad school and thus stuck traveling during high season. I am determined to return regardless.

Hi Ruth! Welcome aboard! Glad to have you here. Hopefully hanging out with other Tuluminaries will help too, I know it does for me. But you're absolutely right about the prices... I think we're all worried about that!

What are you studying?

Phyllis

Like Phyllis says, we all share your concerns. We are kinda getting used to the pricing, as everyone is starting to raise their prices. We don't like it though!!

We would love it if you had time to share old pictures with us - we love to see Tulum at its most beautiful!!

thanks for the welcome! I am in the masters in school counseling program. I will forever be traveling during high season, but at least I will have time to travel. I had a house rental for spring break and bought my ticket to return to Tulum, but now I can't get the guy to officially confirm or get back to me. I had worked really hard to find an amazing deal, and I am worried that he found someone to rent it for more money and is now blowing me off. Im super bummed. I've been looking for something that I can afford and am finding most places booked and everything else too expensive. Pretty concerned at this point...

All my pictures come from a regular camera and I have no technology to put them on the computer. I wish... I am thinking of getting a digital--more money.

You can't beat the price at Cabanas Tulum - why not give them a try - not exactly the most ambiance in Tulum, but definely the best price for what you get. Sorry to hear about your other accomodations:(

I am trying to figure out this house rental thing because I have looked and implored all of the places that I can afford and contact from here but they are booked. I am determined! How do I get the countdown? Cuz it's gonna happen. :)

If worse comes to worse, try Cabana's Tulum again and ask Carloa about the non-beachfront rooms. No hot wa-wa or great view, but it's still Tulum. Someone said it wasn't a horrible experience.
Relax. Something will work out.
