New Year's in Tulum

Are there any music and dance events scheduled for New Year's in Tulum? If so would it be live or DJ'd? My boyfriend and I would love to do some dancing under the stars, preferably on the beach rather than in the town.

Where are you staying in Tulum?

Alot of the bars at the cabanas have pretty laid back funky atmospheres. I stayed at Diamante K a few years back and really liked the bar there. Don't know about any organized parties. The bar at Papaya Playa is pretty cool too (I don't recommend staying there unless you're doing the low budget backpacker thing). I stay away from the places near the ruins. I think they were called Don Armando's and Santa Fe. Maybe it was the crowd that time of year but it seemed like a disgruntled hippie crowd (ie. If you're not an anti-WTO anarchist and don't have dreadlocks like me and smoke pot, I don't like you.) Just my opinion.
