First off, http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k83/Minniemex/Avitars/welcome.gif to the board!!

The first thing that comes to mind is you say you click on your picture. My first question is your picture uploaded to an online image hosting site like photobucket, flickr etc...?? If not, it will not work directly from your computer, you must first upload it to a site.

http://www.flickr.com/

These are the two that come to mind I know there are others but these two I know are free.

Check these out and then try again.

The other reason might be the size of your picture. It needs to be at least a thumbnail, if not avitar size. Most thumbnails have worked for me but all the avitar sizing have worked.

Kayt...actually you CAN load from a picture stored on your computer. You are correct though, in that the size of the image is likely the culprit. The disclaimer says "Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller). "

You should have on your screen "images from my PC" in blue......

Just click on the browse button and find the picture in your computer, hit the upload button and you are on your way!!

Next copy your image (sized accordingly - thumbnail or avatar) and put it in your avatar option 1 - should work!!

Morning Lee. Believe it's the beach in Tulum. Have had it for awhile. Does it ring a bell with you? Craig.:D

Ooh, a challenge! Can you give it to us full-sized so we can see it better? I'm trying to think of a place in Tulum that has the white-painted palms, not coming up with anything.

Are you sure that's Tulum? I mean, the water looks right, but a) I don't know anywhere down there that paints their trees (though I've seen it elsewhere), and b) I don't know anywhere down there that uses that particular kind of beach chair.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thought you might recognize it by structure at left.

I love a mystery! Where have you stayed in Mexico? When? If you right click on your original photo, click on properties......it should show you when the photo was taken. You should also be able to see when you downloaded the photo to photo bucket....that might jog your memory. :)

My guess is this is a more developed area than much of the Tulum beachfront offers. Lynette's right...give us an idea of where YOU think this may have been taken (either areas on Tulum's beach such as the Nuddy Beach Club or other spots you've visited, like PDC, Tankah, Akumal). Kinda hard to solve a mystery without some evidence or clues! :D

I don't know where it is but I propose we form a search party and find it. I volunteer for the mission. It shouldn't take more than six months or so. Beachreader can chronicle the search with Minniemex acting as scout and Adguy Lee pointing us to the right happy hours for respites during our grueling endeavor.

mislead anyone to believe I've been there. Was looking for screen savers a while back and ran across this. Thought it was from Tulum but may be mistaken. Would be first time though. Have been on three cruises to different places and spent a week in Cancun about eight years ago. These were all courtest of my company which have quit this.

Posted on another thread that my wife and I are going to Playa in May for ten days and plan to spend a couple days in Tulum on the beach and in the pueblo.

Will see what I can find out about pic. Sorry for the confusion and thank's for everyones help on this forum. Craig.:D

I was thinking it might be Playa Norte on Isla, too...maybe the part by Na Balam. Notice the "land" in the distance on Hawkey's photo. If it is Isla, it was taken a long time ago. Playa Norte has eroded so much from recent hurricanes and the dredging of sand to fill the Cancun beaches after WIlma. :( The dredging changed a lot of current patterns.
