If I was to fish from shore are you required to buy a mexican fishing liscense. I'm gonna be at rancho san eric for 10 days and I'm sure there will be some down time where I can go get my line wet. Thanks for the help in advanced.

technically, yes, it is required.
good luck, I don't think you'll catch anything without a spear gun but you never know.

You are right, I guess I have been illegal for the last 12 or so years.
I wouldn't know where to go to get one. I have been down in the jungle for too long.

Thanks for the info, I have been looking on the net and to fish from shore in mexican waters a license is not required but to fish from a boat one is required. And for the spear fishing you have to have one to. I'm not worried about catching much its a vacation and not work thats all that matters, just to have a good time. I will give some poppers and stuff for some permit or jacks.

If you're all the way down in San Eric, I think you can hook up with a fishing boat in the Sian Ka'an easily enough. There's fly fishing down there, but also deep sea and probably other types I don't know the names of.
I don't know how to direct you, but if you love to fish, you don't need to settle for just getting your line wet--go ahead and catch stuff and feed your family!
