Just wanted to share my experience with a small restaurant in town called El Huinic de Tulum who won't find it by chance it is located one street behind the ADO bus terminal off the busy main avenue, it does not look like much but the food (authentic Yucatan) is worth a trip, the waitstaff is extremely nice. There is an old lady in the back who makes fresh tortilla. The food is excellent.
