I know we tried to do this back in August....but this time for sure!
First of all....ALL Tulumaholics, spouses, friends, significant others,... all are invited. I was thinking of getting together at a great little restaurant that specializes in Yucatecan cuisine. A place called Xni-Pec, right outside the center of Chicago, across the city limit, in Cicero, Illinois. (About 15-20 minutes north from Midway airport). They have an online menu, and weekend specials, and most importantly, drinks :p! http://www.xnipec.us/ (http://www.tulum.info/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xnipec.us%2F)
Sunday, April 6th 3:00PM? (Date updated Mar 21)
Please put some dates up if it doesn't work for you, or even another restaurant suggestion.
All you Chicagoans and Chicago-area-ans..(?) ..we have to have a good turn out....so we are counting on you all!
Think Tulum!

Hey Windy City!
I am all in. But I would like to offer up November 16/17/18 if it's possible. I know after that we get into Thanksgiving... We will still be in Tulum on the 9th! :) :) :) :) :)

I might think about a drive down, but would need it to be on a Saturday - and would love it if Phyllis was there too!!!!!!!!

YES Minnie you have to come!
Also, Tracee probably won't see this for another week or two, depending on how long her trip is. She's there now, lucky girl. And Minni will be there in just a couple more days!

OK, let's target November 17th...Saturday.
I'll send a PM to Tracee's mailbox

I'm totally there if I can find some kind of crazy dirt-cheap fare into Midway and a dirt-cheap hotel as well.
Hmm, maybe I'll just spend my dirt-cheap money on my next trip south instead!

OK! Here you go:

There are 7 hotels on this campus 4 blocks south of the airport.

Hi Windy!!
I was raised in Cicero and am very familiar with the area. The restaurant has great reviews and I think they would go the "extra mile" for a forum gettoggether ( I like the one word, looks kinda cool!). It sounds great for us 2. The only prob could possibly be is that I am back in the restaurant biz and it could run into iffy at the last minute. Our intentions are there!!!
Great idea!

How about early Nov?

Maybe we should put all our trip dates on the calendar section so we can figure out who will be where, and when. I'm in Tulum early Nov. (2-11).
Fitz, what are your dates - 15th - ?

Yep, we'll be flying out on the 11th... haven't booked the plane yet so not sure when exactly! I gotta make myself get up in the middle of the night to find a really good fare!

If not Nov. 16 or 17, why don't we throw a few more dates out there.....October 26 or 27, December 7 or 8?

This sounds like a great idea! It may be very difficult for me to get a Sat night off, esp. during the holiday season. Whenever this party is scheduled, I'll try to get out of work early and make my way out to Cicero, or wherever. It's about a 45 min drive for us. We're looking forward to meeting everyone!

Fitz, would a Saturday afternoon be better than Sat. night?
Maybe let's wait til Tracee gets back before we decide on Oct vs Dec. I'll also drop a line to Lynette, see if we can get her to join us.

Basically, I should just assume that Saturday's are out for Dec. We'll just be getting back from Tulum and I can't expect to get more time off right away. The place just opened and we're already short a cook. Maybe January would be a better idea, after the holidays? I have been wanting to check that restaurant out.

Yeah, I was thinking January might be better too - but we can play it by ear a bit - see what Tracee's and Lynnette's availability is - maybe a Sunday could work too....

Ok....Sunday's will not work for us. Tony is a die hard Bear fan and a season ticket holder. Nov 6th is out for us, the 17th might work. Although, I'm thinking after the holidays might be a good idea.

Seems like after the holidays may make it easier for all, so how about Friday Jan. 12, or Saturday, Jan.13th? If this seems to work for everyone (please post your preference) I'll put it on the forum calendar.
Just an FYI for those of you who can view the public channel (WTTW 11, Chicago) restaurant TV show, "Check Please". This Friday starts the new season, and Xni Pec will be featured, so Xni Pec is having it's debut party, and all are invited to also watch it in the restaurant on the big screen at 8:00PM.

Fri Jan 12 sounds like a plan for us. Saturday's are hard for me to get off, but if it works better for the majority, that's good.
Could a Sunday work better? What about a Sunday Bears party day? The place may have a tv or provide one!

I figured someone would eventually post it, and sure enough. Here is an excerp about my favorite little Yucatecan joint, Xni Pec that was reviewed by common folks on Check Please! :

Hope at least us local Chicagoans can get together here after the holidays!
