We're planning our second trip to Playa. Last November, we went down to Tulum ruins for a bit in the morning, and somehow by taxi found our way to a beach club or hotel beach area where we spent the rest of the day. We had lounges and there was restaurant/bar service waiters -- great beach and great day.
Any recommendations for specific Tulum beaches such as I described? We can't remember where we were!
There will be 6 of us on this next trip. Appreciate any and all comments - Thanks.:)

Take a cab from the ruins to Ana Y Jose, they have a very nice beach and lounge chairs, if you walk south on the beach from Ana Y Jose's it would take you about 7 miles to reach the the end of the Bi Kaan preserve, so you have plenty of beautiful beach!

I'm surely appreciating these suggestions, and will be sure to take them all down. Of course, I've been closely watching things prior to, during, and now after Emily... not that it will really affect our plans next February, but I can't imagine going through such a storm.
Keep the suggestions coming! Thanks :)

I agree with JX2 about Paraiso Beach Club. We spent many a day on this beach when we were living in Playa. It was one of our faves. Here's some more photos:

I was thinking of a quick 4 day getaway before airlines jack the airfare out of reach, bound to happen with fuel prices as they are. Low season now, means good lodging prices and less crowded..I actually saw some pics of Xel-ha this week where there were empty chairs and very few people, something that just doesn't happen in High season.
Have to face it, I suffer from terminal tulm lover disorder, and the only treatment is frequent trips to the Roo!

north of tulum there is tankah beach club. this is the best swimming that i have ever experienced. there is a lagoon that is mostly fresh water that is fed up from a cenote. then water also comes in from the caribbean creating the most awesome waves. it's like a natural wave pool. very clear, refreshing swim. it has become one of my favorite spots.
btw if anyone has not yet ordered a map from mapchick it's a must. i ordered the playa one and the riviera maya one and we mapped out a whole day of exploring from her map.
